A lazy morning is one that can either be spent doing a little something or nothing at all. We prefer to take charge of those days where routine falls out the window. For some it’s on the weekend and others, it’s a random day or two during the week. Whatever day you have for yourself, use it to your advantage. Take control and give yourself the love it needs. This is where self-care comes into play. Incorporate one or all of the below rituals that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to succeed every day.

Unplug for an hour
When you initially wake, allow your alarm to be the only reason you take a quick gander at your phone. Allow those first 60 minutes of your day to be completely focused on you. Think of it as disconnecting to reconnect. We are constantly tied to our computers, tablets, and phones on a daily basis or more so hourly, let’s be honest. Find what works for you! If 30 minutes is all you can handle to begin, start there and build up over time.

Eat healthy
Food is your fuel! We can all agree the healthier you eat the better you feel, right? Starting your morning off with a nutrient-rich meal sets the tone for the rest of your day. Need some inspiration, we have you covered. Avocado toast is a great meal that is jam-packed with vitamins and minerals. Opt for a smoothie or your favorite breakfast bowl. Bon appetite!

Dry brushing
Good skin is always in. We advise you to adopt dry brushing into your lazy morning routine. It is a great way to get your circulation system pumping, while gently removing dead skin cells, and most importantly aids in detoxifying the lymphatic system. Start from your toes and work all the way up in gentle circular motions. You’ll notice a subtle tingling effect that begins to wake your sleepy head right up.

Get outside
Mother nature is one beauty to not go unnoticed. Getting yourself outside has so many benefits! Breathing in fresh air naturally awakens your body and mind. Find a way that you can incorporate this into your morning. If you want to stay close to home, try sipping your favorite coffee or elixir on your patio. For those who need a little more movement, go for an easy walk around your neighborhood. You’ll reap the benefits of this free luxury right outside your doorstep.

Home spa
Take time for yourself. Soak up your lazy morning in a warm bath with your favorite essential oils. Close your eyes, and let the magic happen. Essential oils have been use for thousands of years and are known for their healing properties. Lavender, Chamomile, Frankincense, and Bergamot are calming oils that will ease you into the morning. Feel free to mix and match to create a unique scent that is perfect for you. Light a candle to really set the mood.

Yoga
The beauty of yoga, is that it comes in so many forms that allows you to find a space that soothes your soul. Not into moving a lot in the morning? Try a simple mediation that will center your mind. Sit comfortably and close your eyes for 5-10 minutes. Allow your breath to remain at a natural rhythm, and draw your focus to where your breath travels through your body. Want to get moving? Start in child’s pose and work your way into a few sets of cat cow. Finish with a simple sun salutation and close out in savasana. Namaste.
